I am a tenant and am unable to pay my rent. My landlord has told me that if I dont pay within two weeks he will change the locks, what can I do?
Your landlord is not able to simply change the locks on residential property, even if there are rent arrears. The landlord can take court action against you both for your eviction, and also to obtain a County Court Judgment against you for the rent you owe. If you receive court papers you should go and get advice from a solicitor or the CAB. If your landlord does try to change the locks then you should contact the Police.
